Purpose: To help you chart your internal energy cycles throughout the day so that you can identify your high energy periods and your low energy periods. By knowing your high and low energy periods, you can assign your daily tasks according to the level of focus and energy that they require.

Instructions

  1. Download and print the form by clicking on the download button above. The file is in Adobe PDF format.
  2. Keep this form with you from the time you wake up till the time you go to sleep.
  3. Every hour, chart your energy level on this form by subjectively assessing your overall level of alertness, physical capability and mental focus by choosing a number between "0" and "10," where "0" is no energy and "10" is high energy. Realize that this is a subjective observation on your part and there is no scientific measurement of how you feel. Just go with your gut feeling.
  4. At the conclusion of the day, connect the dots that you have plotted and you will have a line graph that shows your relative energy levels throughout the day.
  5. NOTE: You may want to perform this analysis over the course of several days to get the best pattern. Also, your energy levels might vary depending on your daily routine, so for instance, your work day might show a different reading than your weekend.
